Now is a great time to write about how to get your mojo back after the slow down break of the summer. And I started to do tons of research so I could lay out some practical steps that went somewhere along the lines of “set the alarm clock and get your butt up” or “hit the gym now before turkey day comes” but should do’s can feel so overwhelming at times almost as if they were absolutes, and I’m learning more and more that the journey is much more enjoyable when it’s fluid. Fluidity makes waves for liberation and liberation opens doors for growth.
So, I decided that instead of business as usual, I’d kick down the barriers of fear built up from unaccomplished New Year plans that left me feeling less than, and to keep on with the keeping on. You see, in reflecting, we are able get back in touch with what life could look like if it took our breaths away. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could wake up excited, (before the boost of caffeine), or feeling the feely feels, all the while enjoying the ride? We start off the year trying to do that, so why wait until another one to try again? I also decided that if I’m going to give this renewing of the mind a real shot, I’m pulling you up with me. So here’s how I’m approaching this and what I think is key to making this work:
Ask yourself what you want, what you really really want… I think that sometimes we create goals for ourselves that at the time truly felt as if they were honest representation of who we were when we set them. Then later we discover that we were still chasing someone else’s shadow, or trying to live up to what we perceived as the success someone else believed to be our possibility. Ever try to live up to the potential someone else saw in you, feeling a sense of shame for not wanting to be their sense of an ideal you? Yeah, I’ve been there. And that’s why I now take a step back so that I can listen to my own heart. In learning to love oneself you learn to trust oneself. And in trusting, I’ve learned is that it’s ok if you don’t know exactly what you want or how to get it just yet.
I’ve learned that sometimes things look crystal clear, and some things look kind of fuzzy because it’s waiting on me to take my love and faith in myself to another level. One thing remains true for me though, and it’s that when you simply get started, even if that means identifying what you do not want, you start the process for personal evolution. From there it’s up to you to have the courage to persistently and consistently work towards getting what you want, tweaking that and pursuing it some more.
Be wary of analysis paralysis. I don’t know about you, but I tend to sit inside my head for much too long. That helps me out at times, because I’m not very impulsive and my level-headedness keeps things consistent and running smooth. However, thoughts need action if you’re trying to make some moves. One move in an empowering direction is to get around people who are also sick and tired of being sick and tired. In my case I knew I would need a boost after a vacation so I signed up for a 1 day live intensive workshop all about astonishment where I knew I’d be in the company of other entrpreneurs who like myself were content but not complacent especially when we ourselves believe we still have so much more inside of ourselves that has yet to be unleashed onto the world, and understood the power of activation though investment in ourselves. For you it might be finally getting that accountability buddy to hold yourself accountable to doing what you say you’re going to do and showing up the way you dreamed in color when you mapped out that vision board. Whatever it takes!
Stay Focused Wo(man). So much information, so many opinions with their 2 cents and some change, so many paths to take to get to the same destination. Astonishing yourself is simply that, it’s about getting in touch with you, your desires, your intentions. What can you in your own power can do? What do you believe you are capable of if you just stretch? If you just embrace all of who you really are, all of who you know you could be? 1st time I set projects under this same name I realized that I was leaning on others to make things happen for me. I have no control over other people nor certain circumstances that could affect their lives, therefore when losing sight of my original focus I ended up having to let my plans take a backseat because those same plans took a backseat for them. We can be open to new ideas, and other possibilities, and even shortcuts, as long as they don’t take us somewhere we don’t really want to go, but bring your own gps, get behind the steering wheel, and drive your own car.
